Technical Support - Frequently Asked Questions Select a Category:
Go to additional pages for instruction details Ø
Is
it strictly necessary to continue upgrading to the current version of the
software?
Yes. Apart from not being up to date with the latest enhancements, you run the
risk of encountering problems with versions of the software that are not Y2K
compliant. Ø
During an upgrade, can I copy required files directly from the CD-ROM supplied? Yes, but please note that all files on the CD-ROM are set to read-only.
If you copy any files other than .exe or .DLL files, you must be sure to
uncheck the read-only box on them. Ø
After re-installation/upgrading, why won’t my icon work properly?
During install of the software, if you have not copied the icon across as per
instructions, but created your own icon afterwards, then have not changed the
program line parameter in the shortcut, the default (no parameter) will open the
ExportLite icon. /Exstart.exe
=
ExportLite
/Exstart.exe
1 = ExportPro /Exstart.exe
2 = TradingPro Ø After re-installation/upgrading, I click on "Import External Consignment" and get the following error "Your licence does not include this option". What's wrong? During install of the software, you have not copied the vbio.vbx and exinter.exe files back to your C:\EXPORT folder from your backup. Make sure these files are present in the EXPORT folder and try again. If for some reason, you are unable to do this, please contact the support centre for a replacement of these files. Ø After upgrading to 1.80.06 from 1.70, I want to enter Charge Assignments on a Shipping Document, but some of the previously entered assignments are missing. Why? Can I get them back? During install of the software, most of the files are overwritten as if during a new installation - that is why a thorough backup is ALWAYS advised prior to upgrading. Upgrading from version 1.70 to 1.80.06 does include a modification to the Charge Assignments statements. This information is held in a file called sicharge.cbo located in the C:\EXPORT\WORKING folder. To retrieve your previous charge statements, simply restore the sicharge.cbo file from your backup, to C:\EXPORT\WORKING. Bear in mind the drive letter may be different if you run ExportPro from your server. Ø
What do I need to do when replacing a file server where
ExportPro/TradingPro/ExportLite
data files are held?
If replacing the file server where our data files exist, users should recreate or
create the ‘\Export’ directory on
the new server, copy the contents of their ‘Export’
directory from old server (where :\data,
:\dB &
:\install
should exist) to the new server. Then
drive mappings must be confirmed on new server - they should be exactly the same, so
that workstations are referencing server data correctly. Ø
Should I edit the
company.dtl
file to make directory path changes?
NEVER edit the company.dtl file –
any changes required must be made in the ExportPro
front screen – company menu. These changes are written to the company.dtl
file – if user tries to manually edit this, they may cause corruption. Ø
I want to enter the document reference manually, on commercial documents - how
do I do that? Open
your document, then click on Format/Preferences
and uncheck the box entitled Ø
I cannot seem to recall my document layouts, even though I have saved them. Is
there something not set correctly?
If
invoice layouts can not be recalled after saving, it could be due to problems
with the iniedit.exe file, which
should exist in C:\EXPORT.
This should then allow you to save the invoice formats correctly and be able to retrieve them.
Ø
How can I generate files in PDF format, for emailing purposes? In
order to generate a PDF file you need to install a print driver, which is
available from AMYUNI Consultants.
They charge US$129.00 for this driver.
Their WEB site is www.amyuni.com.
Do NOT download from their WEB site but send an e-mail to Anabelle De
Albuquerque at anabelle.albuquerque@amyuni.com.
She will e-mail the version suitable for ExportPro. Once
the driver is installed, it will behave exactly like a printer.
To e-mail an ExportPro document, load the document in ExportPro, enter
“Print Preview” and select “Print”.
Change the printer to “PDF
Compatible Print Driver”.
Click OK. The program will prompt for a file name.
Enter a name and click OK.
This will generate a PDF file.
You can then use your e-mail program and attach this file and transmit
it. In order to be able to view/print PDF files, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader. This program is available free of charge at www.adobe.com and is also available on our installation CD. Note: If you experience intermittent problems using the Adobi PDFWriter from ExportPro, especially with logo's, please look up the Knowledge Base on the Adobi website. There is a known problem regarding EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) files. PDFWriter cannot always successfully convert a file to PDF if it includes EPS files, such as are included with ExportPro files. The suggestion is to install Acrobat Distiller, which comes as part of the Adobi Exchange package. We have received the following correspondence from one of our customers who has found a much cheaper alternative to the PDF file creator from Amuniyi. We have checked it out and it appears to work OK. Just like the Amuniyi solution
"Dear Lisa, I trust you are well. I refer to our earlier correspondence regarding the issue of how to send Exportpro documents as email attachments. You had suggested that I contact Amyuni in France to obtain their PDF driver for $129-00. Luckily I did not immediately contact them. In the meantime, I have just discovered a utility which does the job just as well - and the bestpart is that it is free and available to anyone to download!. It is called Hotsend. More information is available at the following web site:-
This utility is outstanding. It works on 2000, NT 4, Win 95, & Win 98 and along the same lines as the PDF driver. In order to create an attachment, you have to print selecting the hotsend email attacher driver. Any attachments can be sent with its own built-in viewer so the sender can be sure that the beneficiary will be able to open and read the file - even Macintosh users can open these files. I have been sending my Exportpro files to my customers for a few days now using this utility and it works really well. Please find attached an example of how a file with its viewer is received. I would suggest that you download the utility (1.8 MB) and try it out. Let me know what you think. The only drawback is that some large network servers may delete an .exe attachment (file with built in viewer) for security reasons and this may cause a problem.
Many thanks and best regards Azim"

What should I do if my database seems to be corrupt? There may be an issue with the validity of your .DLL files.
Has any version of Microsoft Office been installed on your PC since
ExportPro software was installed? Always re-install ExportPro software after
installing MS Office. But first
rename expopro.ini, then re-install
ExportPro software, and rename newly installed .ini and rename old.ini back to expopro.ini Also
check these 3 files msaju200.dll msabc200.dll msajt200.dll in
c:\windows\system - make sure that
the file sizes match with what is in the c:\export
directory. That is, the version of
these .DLL files should be in line with your latest software upgrade. If database corruption error
messages persist when there is no problems with .DLL file validity, the next course of action we
suggest, is to restore ExportPro data from your last backup, and re-enter and
save all transactions since that backup.
Please note: ExportPro Ltd always advise customers
that it is essential for regular backups of their ExportPro data to be taken. If there is a problem with
restoring from backup, then there is a database rebuild routine available –
however, its’ use is not appropriate in extreme cases of database corruption -
i.e.. if the database is completely unreadable, then this routine will not
work. If
you are unsure, call Customer Services on
01904 750414
or email support@export-pro.com
and we will send you a copy of the following 2 files: exmaint.exe
(87kb) and a clean database – expro.mdb
(832kb). Usage: Place
a copy of the corrupt database and the clean one in a test directory; place exmaint.exe
in the :\EXPORT directory and then
run exmaint.exe. Then click on
<Corrupt DB> and enter full path & filename of corrupt database in
test area, & click on <Fresh DB> and do the same for the clean version
of expro.mdb in the test area. Click on <Start Transfer> - when this is complete, a file called EXERROR.TXT will be created in the test area to check the problems encountered. If this routine cannot run and the error "Cannot open database..." is displayed, then your database is too corrupt. You will need to restore from your last good backup and re-enter documents as described above, or if this solution is unworkable for you, please contact us and we will send you a clean database with instructions on how rebuild this. Ø
Why can I not access the database, even though the drive mapping to the server
is mapped correctly on the PC and the path statements are correct on the ExportPro
front screen, and other users can access the database OK?
A probable cause of this error is having the expoctrl.des
file being set to ‘read-only’, as a result of copying the file direct from
CD-ROM. If this is the case, you
should get an error message to this effect. Browse
c:\export\company1 and look at the
properties of expoctrl.des - if
checked 'read-only' - uncheck & try again! ! - Device not available - On selecting company at ExportPro startup You have lost your drive mapping to the network server - re-map drive & check "Reconnect at Logon" ! - Illegal function call - i) When trying to print to HP LaserJet 4050 and the print job remains in the queue Install the post script version of the LaserJet4050 driver ii) When trying to print to HP LaserJet 2100 and the print job remains in the queue/only 'boxes' appear on the printout. Install the Family PCL5e driver for the LaserJet2100 Series with all additional options then in Printer Properties/Finishing/Print Quality - Details under Rendering toggle 'Send page as raster'. If print speed deteriorates, set Resolution to 300 dpi iii) When trying to print to HP LaserJet 4L and the print job remains in the queue Install the HP LaserJet iii driver ! - Incompatible database - When trying to access the database Indicates a conflict of .dll or .vbx files in the Windows/system directory - see tech notes included with upgrade CD or contact ExportPro Support ! - Invalid Property Value - Usually encountered during File/open a document You have not entered the data directory path at the front company screen of ExportPro/TradingPro ! - Overflow Error - When in Commercial Documents If screen resolution is set to 640x480 and also has MS Office Shortcut bar at either side of the screen, try increasing resolution or moving Shortcut bar to top or bottom of screen ! - Syntax Error in Query... - Encountered during creation of VB Queries such as the Intrastat report Incorrect time format settings in Windows - select another time format without tt (e.g. hh:mm:ss) - click APPLY. Then select time format HH:mm:ss without tt and click OK Ø
How can I create a temporary packing list? Please see our Technical Information subject No. 52 on this issue. Click here to see this subject. ExportPro and TradingPro have been specifically developed under the Microsoft Windows operating system, with database tables in Access format. The software has been designed to run on standalone PC's or any PC network supported by Windows (Version 3.1, 3.11, 95, 98,ME, 2000 or NT 3.51 or 4.00). We also have ExportPro running on Windows XP installations and on both Citrix Metaframe and Terminal Server network enviroments. ExportPro and TradingPro are both Year 2000 compliant. Hardware Requirement The recommended specification PC required to run ExportPro effectively is: Pentium processor with minimum 16 MB RAM required The system uses approximately 25 MB of disk space, at installation Any printer supported by Windows may be used, but no additional memory is required for Laser printers, as ExportPro does not need to download macros to the printer.
